Major milestone as Team Britannia’s revolutionary eco boat to be turned right way up – 5 DecemberMajor milestone reached for Alan Priddy as Team Britannia’s revolutionary eco boat will be turned over ready for final phase of construction and kitting out– Monday 5th December 2016.
The 80ft aluminium hull, which is being built on Hayling Island by the Aluminium Boatbulding Companyfor Mr Priddy’s round the world record attempt, will be lifted out of the special upside down jig which has been used to secure the 20km of framing and supports while being welded together and turned the right way up.
Once the hull has been turned the final phase of construction will get underway. This will see the six massive fuel tanks, twin engines and jets installed as well as the distinctive wheelhouse and deck being craned into place.
Mr Priddy will be joined by master boatbuilder Paul Johnson from ABC who will oversee the painstaking operation and members of the boat’s crew.
